The Seaming Cutters from Crain — a job-site essential for a professional-looking install.
This cutter excels on zigzag ("hydra-shift") carpets including commercial loop pile and Berbers! The blade runs directly behind the center row guide. This keeps the blade away from the offset yarns, preventing yarns from being sheared, which causes unsightly seams. The wide base keeps the blade perpendicular to the yarns, further reducing nap shear. The row guide can be retracted fully into the base for top cutting.
The tool can also be used as a trimmer to precisely trim carpet up to Z-bar or vinyl molding. Blades: Slotted razor (Crain No. 308C) and utility.

Installation — Glue-down
- Acclimate the material and make sure the subfloor is clean, dry and flat.
- Spread the recommended adhesive with the correct-notch trowel; work in small sections.
- Set each piece into the wet adhesive and roll the floor to ensure full transfer.
- Keep traffic off until the adhesive fully cures (check the adhesive label).
Care & maintenance
- Sweep or dry-mop regularly; damp-mop with a pH-neutral cleaner.
- Wipe spills promptly and use felt pads under furniture.
