Schluter-DITRA and DITRA-XL are specially designed for use with ceramic and natural stone tiles. It provides an uncoupling function that prevents cracking of tile and grout. Made of polyethylene, DITRA and DITRA-XL serve as a waterproofing layer to protect moisture-sensitive substrates such as plywood/OSB.
The voids under the membrane allow excess moisture and vapor to escape from the substrate - otherwise the tile could be damaged. DITRA and DITRA-XL perform all of these functions, in addition to providing adequate support and load distribution for the tile covering.

Installation — Glue-down
- Acclimate the material and make sure the subfloor is clean, dry and flat.
- Spread the recommended adhesive with the correct-notch trowel; work in small sections.
- Set each piece into the wet adhesive and roll the floor to ensure full transfer.
- Keep traffic off until the adhesive fully cures (check the adhesive label).
Care & maintenance
- Sweep or dry-mop regularly; damp-mop with a pH-neutral cleaner.
- Wipe spills promptly and use felt pads under furniture.
