This tool provides a simple way to stretch carpet across the stair tread and form it around the stair nosing. Hook the gripper teeth in the carpet just ahead of the stair nosing, then pull the leverage handle down. A pulling action is generated on the teeth that stretches the carpet across the stair tread. At the same time, the bottom edge of the tool tucks the carpet up under the stair nosing.
Recesses in the bottom edge allow the nose of the tacker to be inserted for easy stapling. A tough job is made easier with the Stair Claw.

Installation — Glue-down
- Acclimate the material and make sure the subfloor is clean, dry and flat.
- Spread the recommended adhesive with the correct-notch trowel; work in small sections.
- Set each piece into the wet adhesive and roll the floor to ensure full transfer.
- Keep traffic off until the adhesive fully cures (check the adhesive label).
Care & maintenance
- Sweep or dry-mop regularly; damp-mop with a pH-neutral cleaner.
- Wipe spills promptly and use felt pads under furniture.
